Daughters of Abbot: Patricia A. Bowne and Marcie Rickenbacker

Through the outreach efforts of the Abbot Archives Project, the Phillips Academy Archives and Special Collections received a donation from Marcie Rickenbacker (Abbot Academy class of 1970) who attended Abbot, just like her mother, Patricia "Patty" A. Bowne (Abbot Academy class of 1946) before her. Like Marcie and her mother, Abbot Academy history is full of mothers and daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts and great aunts who attended Abbot, keeping this educational legacy within the family. This exhibit focuses strictly on Marcie Rickenbacker and her mother, Patty Bowne, as one example of many family legacies who attended Abbot Academy from its beginnings in 1829 to its merger with Phillips Academy in 1973.

Not only does this collection give a glimpse into the life of an Abbot girl, but it also provides a parallel picture of these women's experiences during their respective time at Abbot. More letters and images have been scanned than have been included in this online exhibit. More information can be found here: http://www.noblenet.org/paarchives/?page_id=2116
