Some photographs in this collection pre-date Sarah Field's time at Abbot Academy. While there is no clear documentation, some earlier photographs, like the class portrait from 1869, could have been acquired by her aunt, Katharine Charlotte Field, who graduated from Abbot in the early 1870s.
